Fathers, be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers, be good to your daughters too
When I first heard this old tune by John Mayer, I was just a freshie starting out in the real world, burning the midnight oil in an advertising firm, having an existential crisis, and constantly pondering about the path to happiness.
While I loved his exceptional guitar skills, his smoldering good looks and his husky voice – I couldn’t quite resonate with the words at that point in my life. I was too self-indulgent to appreciate the depth in its lyrics.
Fast forward to the present; I’m now a mother to a beautiful 6-year-old child.
In spite of the chaotic moments, and the unpreparedness that comes with every single surprise, I am genuinely… content.
I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve this child. Every moment spent with her is like living through the magical stills of a George Melies movie; a child of the cosmos, with stars in her eyes, ruler of the skies. Motherhood has given me a kin-aesthetic and emotional sensing of who my little one is, going beyond empathy to create an experience of unbroken feelings and connectedness. It has taught me how to love another human being without any conditions, and it is this precise experience, that is nothing short of a miracle.
There is no form & function. There are no guidelines. There are no terms and conditions. My child, my bloodline, who loves me in spite of my flaws, and this is something miraculous conceptualized by a greater force
MOTHERS, while we’re all not the most flawless of individuals, and some of us probably defy all greeting card logic, each day we wake up with a new lease on life to be better, to be better for our little ones.
So, what do we want for Mother’s Day? (Besides the peace and tranquility) – we just want the appreciation. We don’t care about the fine-dining experience or the 5-star luxurious holidays, we only want a simple gesture of appreciation – to show us that it’s okay to be imperfect.
Kids, if you are not the talking kind, or fail to see how you can utter these sentiments without choking up every 2 sentences – perhaps you could install Kiple, swipe through our deals and see what works for you and your mother. We’ve got your back.
Happy Mother’s Day from all of us in Kiple.
